The Nubian Giraffe, (Giraffa camelopardalis camelopardalis) also known as the southern giraffe or Ugandan giraffe, is a subspecies of giraffe native to northeastern Africa, specifically found in Uganda, South Sudan, and parts of Kenya. This giraffe is considered endangered, with an estimated population of fewer than 2,000 individuals left in the wild. The primary threats to the Nubian giraffe's survival include habitat loss, poaching, and human-wildlife conflict. As agricultural land expands and human settlements encroach on their habitats, giraffes are losing the space they need to roam and find food. Additionally, poaching for their meat, skin, and bones, as well as trophy hunting, further endangers the species.

The Nubian giraffe is distinguishable from other giraffe subspecies by its darker and more irregular coat patterns, with large, polygonal patches. Despite their distinctive appearance, they share many of the same ecological roles as other giraffes, such as promoting seed dispersal and maintaining the structure of their habitats by browsing on tree foliage.
