Mountain Gorilla Sweatshirt

Mountain Gorillas, (Gorilla beringei beringei), one of the two subspecies of eastern gorillas, are critically endangered but have seen significant conservation success in recent years. Found primarily in the forests of the Virunga Mountains, which span the borders of Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda, the population of mountain gorillas has risen from as low as 250 individuals in the 1980s to around 1,000 today. This is a remarkable recovery, thanks to dedicated conservation efforts.

The primary threats to mountain gorillas include habitat loss due to agriculture, poaching, disease transmission from humans (such as respiratory illnesses), and human-wildlife conflict. Gorillas' habitats are under increasing pressure from human activity, with nearby communities relying on the same forests for resources. Additionally, the gorillas' close proximity to humans increases the risk of diseases being transmitted.
