Pallas’s cat is a small wildcat adapted to the harsh climates of Central Asia. Its dense fur and compact body allow it to survive extreme cold and high altitudes. Unlike many cats, it relies on camouflage rather than speed to hunt.

It is threatened by habitat degradation, poisoning from rodent control programs, and declining prey populations. Because it reproduces slowly and occupies fragmented habitats, recovery is difficult.
