The Malayan tapir is a large, nocturnal mammal native to Southeast Asian rainforests. Its distinctive black-and-white coloration provides camouflage in low-light forest environments. Tapirs are important seed dispersers and help maintain forest diversity.

They are endangered due to habitat loss, road collisions, and agricultural expansion. Tapirs reproduce slowly, making populations particularly vulnerable once numbers decline.
